You may lease an area for a minimum of two people for
quail only, for $2,500 each (minimum $5,000). This allows hunters to
hunt prior to Thanksgiving or after the end of deer season (January
& February). Hunters may choose either time, but not both times,
at this price. Full season leases are available. Hunters may share gun
days with another person if we have smaller sized areas available or
if permits are purchased, to hunt by reservation only, on unleased
areas.
$2500 includes 10 gun days
(or hunting days @ $250 per person per day). These gun days can be taken
consecutively or 1 or 2 days at a time with a minimum of 2 people, and a
maximum of 5 people (for
safety reasons) hunting together (each day) in your party, on your lease.
No one will be allowed to hunt on your lease before you use up your 10
hunting gun days (prior to Thanksgiving). Or, if you choose to hunt in
January and February, no one other than your group may hunt on your
lease after the end of following deer season. Quail covies must not be
over hunted. They must have time between hunts of 3-5 days.
These leases are mostly
located on the 16,000 acre Borden
County Ranch. All game populations are strictly managed. The area of
land is based on our census of quail and the daily kill limit of 10
quail per person per day for 10 days of hunting (or 100 birds). This
leaves quail to breed for next season. The maximum number of people
depends on the quail population, the number of people you can put
together to pay $2500 each (or to come as your guests) - not to exceed 10
gun days including guests for each $2500 paid. 50% must be paid to
reserve a lease adequate for the number of gun days you desire in $2,500 increments. The balance is due no later than June 1, of the
preceding year (no refunds after May 1, of the preceding year). We
have lodging, feeders, guides with dogs and vehicles available.
Hunters may not hunt during
deer season at these prices. We have other quail leases that range from
$300-400 per day average ($3,000-10,000 up) depending on the number of
people on the lease, the amount of feed and quail feeders we
provide, the estimated number of gun days (hunter days) your group will
need (which directly affects the size of the area of your lease), what
and how much other game animals and birds would be on the area, and
whether or not you would want to exclude any hunting of those other
species by hunters not in your group during times between hunts by you
or your lease group. Some of the other species could be Turkey, Dove,
Duck, Deer, Feral Hogs, Sandhill Crane, predators and varmints.
You may purchase the
exclusive rights to hunt all or any of these species that are in season
during the quail season or part of the quail season, or you may only
purchase quail hunting. Dove hunting is primarily September and October
and may be combined with a quail lease or, if there is a Dove season in
December, combined with a catered quail hunt, as can the other
shotgun-hunted species. We can even provide a combination rifle and
shotgun hunt with lodging and meals, guides and all amenities for you or
for your clients.
Whitetail
Seasonal Leases
We have native Whitetail with a
good buck to doe ratio. You may harvest Management or Trophy
bucks and you may hunt with bows, legal shotguns or rifles. We
manage the populations of deer with hunting limits set by our
game manager with your enjoyment for many return visits in mind.
Seasonal Whitetail leases are available on the Borden
County Ranch starting at $2,000 per person, with a 2 person
minimum. There is a $100 per point premium for deer that
score between 145-164 7/8 and a $25 per 1/8 point premium for
deer that score above 164 7/8 on the Boone and Crockett scale. You
may only harvest one mature buck, per person. There is no
premium for scores below the annual starting points. The
base fee is due in full when leased and any applicable bonus
fees are due within 30 days of harvest.

Sandhill
Crane Seasonal Leases
The Glasscock County Ranch is located on a
Sandhill Crane Flyway with roosting areas along Mustang Draw—where
you may see thousands of Sandhill Crane. Seasonal Sandhill
Crane leases start at $750 per person with a 2 person
minimum. Please call the

Lodging
is available on the Glasscock
County Ranch and may be included for an additional $50 -
$200 per person per day (depending on the type of lodging
selected and the number of hunters). You may choose to stay in
our ranch-style lodge, the historic rock house - or
from various other types of lodging available.
RV hookups and camping are also
offered on both ranches.
Additionally,
there are also several
motels available in the area.
